Skank

After a sell-out 2021 tour, The Times Critic’s choice comedy-drama SKANK is coming to Preston as part of its final tour.

This is the last chance to see this critically acclaimed solo-show by Clementine Bogg-Hargroves.

SKANKS just wanna have a clean bill of health, the adoration of the public and some decent recycling facilities.

Kate could be a successful writer, if she could just concentrate. Instead, she needs to recycle this bean can, s**g sexy Gary and stop obsessing about her inevitable untimely death.

Clementine Bogg-Hargroves delivers “a painfully accurate slice of life” (BroadwayBaby ★★★★★) in this witty, dark, and often filthy, one-woman show. It’ll make you laugh, and then it’ll make you cry.

“It’s a gem” ★★★★★ Bouquets and Brickbats
“Moving and memorable” ★★★★ North West End
“A tour-de-force performance” Number9

Tom Mayhew - From Rags to Slightly Newer Rags

Tom Mayhew is a professional comedian. Well, he was. Over the last 18 months, he has sold out West End venues and signed on; he then stopped signing on to perform his own Radio 4 stand-up series.

It's been both the most and least successful period of his career.

Mayhew is a critically acclaimed comedian, whose material about being working-class – mixing the personal and the political, with the punchline-rate of a one-liner comic – sets him apart from any other act on the circuit.

His 2019 Edinburgh show I, Tom Mayhew, about being someone in their 20s living on benefits in austerity Britain, received 4 and 5 star reviews across the board, and transferred to a sell-out Soho Theatre run in London.

He adapted this show for his own radio series - Tom Mayhew is Benefit Scum - which aired on BBC Radio 4 in March 2021.

Reviews:
“Quite simply an absolute gem of a performance.” ★★★★★ Edit
“It is genuine, powerful, political stuff.” ★★★★ The Scotsman
“Authentic material we can relate to: funny, sharp, intelligent, meaningful and pleasing.” ★★★★ Chortle
“Mayhew is passionate, articulate and – above all else – hilarious.” ★★★★ The Skinny
“Tory-hating leftie.” ★★★★ Daily Mail

Event now at The Ferret, Preston.

The Indecent Musings of Miss Doncaster 2007

Life hasn’t quite turned out the way she thought it would when she accepted her sash and crown in Trilogy nightclub back in 2007. No one goes out anymore. Tinder is shit. And she’s pretty sure her dad is dying. Things couldn’t get much worse. Until she sits on a cactus … naked.

This one-woman show with balls, heart and Yorkshire grit tells a bold, triumphant story about how we can survive and thrive when all the odds are stacked against us. It has won a string of five-star reviews, hailing York’s performance as ‘punchy’, funny’, ‘insightful’ and ‘heart-breaking’.

The comedy performance, which includes a banging soundtrack, stand-up comedy and dance, has already played to sold-out audiences at London’s at Camden Peoples Theatre and Vault Festival. Its recent run over four nights (May/June 2021) at the prestigious Brighton Fringe was such a hit that the show has already been invited back to the festival for extra shows in July.

Written and performed by Annabel York

“Donna is a fine creation… both writing and performance are punchy.” The Guardian

“Annabel York, an actor who is definitely a triple threat.” Lyn Gardner

“Annabel York is a natural born entertainer, establishing a sincere relationship with the audience from the very start.” The Upcoming *****

“An insightful and funny performance that makes you laugh and cry, laugh so hard you cry, and even laugh through heartbroken tears.” Broadway World *****
